recalc turns a spreadsheet into Claude Code's harness of harnesses, each cell its own agent
0xcontext · reddit · 2026-11-05
A developer open-sourced recalc (sshah03/recalc): a spreadsheet app driven by Claude Code where each cell can be its own agent or shell command, continuable as a standalone terminal session. Under the hood it glues terminal sessions together with a background MCP server for inter-session messaging, so it works with existing Claude Code plans.
The author, who previously built an AI tax startup, included tax and legal work examples. In the demo he builds "FDA Bench": picking FDA approval cases past model cutoff dates and having an AI harness (no web search) predict approval from submission data alone — Fable got 75% right in a small sample.
Notably, he used an independent Claude Code session via MCP to drive all sessions inside recalc, fuzzing scenarios, fixing bugs, and generating regression tests — a self-improvement loop.
