Box courts Nvidia and Intel CEOs as it pitches itself as the neutral content layer for enterprise AI
shashib · x · 2026-11-05
Heading into BoxWorks, the author analyzes how Box—a company that started as a way to send files too big for email—is positioning itself as the secure content layer feeding AI across Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.
The core argument: most enterprise AI spending has gone to compute and models, but ROI depends on whether AI agents can reach contracts, claims files and drawings where company knowledge actually lives. Box is betting on neutrality—partnering with Microsoft and Google (whose storage products compete with it) as well as model vendors—giving CIOs one governed content store that works with whichever AI vendor they pick next year.
The open question is control: when one vendor's agent reads a Box file, who enforces permissions, keeps the audit trail, and pays for processing? That answer decides who is accountable when things go wrong.
