Sharon Zhou, Lamini founder who led AMD's AI research org, announced she has joined Anthropic to return to frontier model research. In a long post thanking AMD CEO Lisa Su, she revealed her team was among the first to take RL kernel optimization seriously — work now shipped into what labs get out-of-the-box with models like Claude — and shared a striking claim: pushing a frontier capability takes far fewer people than assumed, updating her prior from 100x to 1000x fewer in just a year.
