A tracking survey of the same 1,425 AI-concerned U.S. adults found support for pausing AI until it is safe jumped from 33% to 46% in eight months (+12.5 points), edging out "much stronger oversight" (down from 53% to 42%) as the preferred intervention. Longitudinal flow: 247 switched from oversight to pause, only 77 reversed. Conducted Feb-Mar and October via quota-balanced Prolific panels (Five Americas of AI Concern).
