A better personalization test: can your AI assistant explain why something matters?
AlexWorkGuru · reddit · 2026-11-04
The author argues a more interesting personalization test for AI assistants is whether they can explain priority judgments: the same calendar (a client call vs. an internal review) warrants different advice depending on whether your goal is growing the client or protecting delivery. He proposes a self-run experiment: give the same scenario with two stated priorities and check if recommendations change for identifiable reasons; add a complication (the call is just informal) and see if the assistant revises or defends its original answer. He also flags the trap of assistants blindly agreeing with your stated priority — a real deadline should make it flag the conflict.
