Black hole lensing rendered with Gaussian splats: 373k Gaia stars in-browser
willeastcott · x · 2026-11-04
Martin Valigursky shows Gaussian splats aren't just for photo scans: a browser-rendered black hole where the gravitational lensing itself is done by splatting — each splat drawn where its bent light lands. Also renders 373,000 Gaia stars, one splat each, moving along their measured velocities, all real-time in the browser with PlayCanvas.
