Built with Claude Haiku 5.5, not Opus: pixel-art animation shows small models often suffice
Lazar988 · reddit · 2026-11-04
While everyone showcases animations made with Claude Opus 5.5, this creator built "The Comparison Trap" — a pixel-art animation about social comparison, complete with a scrolling feed, dialogue boxes and retro-game UI — using Claude Haiku 5.5.
The workflow: describing visual direction, developing individual elements, and iterating on composition and movement. They also tried Opus 5.5 but saw no significant difference in final visual output for this project. Not a benchmark, just a hands-on observation: don't reflexively reach for the biggest model when a smaller one does the job.
