Alibaba brings Qwen AI drums and a Wan3.0 opening film to Dakar Youth Olympics
APPSO · wechat · 2026-11-04
APPSO reports on Alibaba's AI and cloud deployment at the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics, the first Olympics on African soil.
- Alibaba Teranga Beat installation: visitors play a Sabar drum rhythm game, snap a photo, and the Qwen model generates an avatar video of themselves in Senegalese attire dancing to the beat; a Qwen-based assistant answers schedule and venue questions.
- Opening ceremony film: a 60-second Wan3.0 group video kept 100 real participants' faces and drumming motions consistent across long tracking shots, using per-person asset indexing, 3D reference frames, segmented generation with seamless first/last-frame stitching, and face tracking.
- Backend: an ApsaraStack-based private cloud with dual availability zones handled ticketing for 1M tickets across 7 venues, and will be handed over to Senegal's government as a national sovereign cloud after the games.
