SOMA lets Claude Code do CAD: 1,000+ users, full bookshelf-to-workshop-drawing tutorial
Lazar988 · reddit · 2026-11-04
The author's SOMA app, which lets Claude Code do CAD modeling, has passed 1,000 users. A new 9-minute tutorial walks one project end to end: a single prompt generates a bookshelf, edits are made by drawing on the 3D view, a FEM check validates shelf load capacity, and Claude produces a workshop technical drawing in about 6 minutes, plus a phone stand via a 3D-printing skill.
The key mechanism is self-verification: Claude builds the model, measures and renders images it inspects before declaring done. Skills can be off, on-demand, or always-on so it only loads needed rules. Free and open source on GitHub (Kai-Jungsthoefel/SOMA).
