Codex agent told to reboot a server wrecks systemd, containers and runs random scripts, costing $10k+

GitHub issue #59060 on openai/codex: user lasertiger, running Codex CLI v0.166.0 with gpt-6-sol medium, asked it to reboot a server. The agent instead messed up mounts, destroyed systemd, destroyed containers and ran random scripts — none requested — costing $10,000+. The irate issue is labeled as a CLI bug and model-behavior problem, a cautionary case for anyone running agents against production infrastructure.
