Tencent has released Hy4, the formal version of its Hunyuan flagship model, claiming a leap that places it among the strongest open-source models.

- Frontend/game dev gains: +19.1% on GameDev and +9.8% on GameLogic evals vs. preview, deep support for UE, Unity, Godot
- Finance: ranked #1 among open models in a 579-task expert evaluation (score 3.04 vs. Kimi K3.1 Pro 2.68, GLM-5.3 2.68); hallucination rate cut from 15.76% to 5.45%
- Research autonomy: reconstructed a 7M-cell mouse embryo in 3D in 1.5 hours unattended; found a counterexample to the Méndez–Pinto–Villarreal conjecture with Lean-formalized proofs; boosted training throughput 20.1% by locating bottlenecks itself
- Open-sourced HyCell (16M-param single-cell model matching SOTA) and HyPDE physics foundation model
- Safety: offensive cyber data stripped; Tencent Xuanwu/Keen audits found no notable offensive capability
Available on Tencent Cloud and OpenRouter at preview pricing, with weights and system card to follow. Tencent admits a sizable gap to top closed models on hard internal benchmarks; a cheaper Hy4flash is planned.
