Apple Intelligence launches in China dev beta with Qwen-powered Siri and writing tools, full release in December
APPSO · wechat · 2026-11-04
Apple has opened China-market Apple Intelligence to developer beta testers, with general availability planned for iOS 27.3 in December. Supported on iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, iPhone 16 series and iPhone Air. First features: system-wide Writing Tools including Qwen-powered free-form generation, Visual Intelligence (Qwen for visual Q&A, Baidu for image search), photo cleanup, Genmoji, call/recording summaries, and a Siri that handles text input, mid-sentence corrections and context — routing complex queries to the Qwen app with access to Taobao, SF Express and more. Hands-on impressions are lukewarm: occasional crashes, visible cleanup artifacts, noticeable heat. The piece notes the reversal: Chinese vendors already educated the AI-phone market Apple is finally entering.
