Claude Code v2.1.318 adds effort option to model forks, fixes auth and MCP config bugs
ashwin-ant · ghdev · 2026-11-04
Anthropic shipped Claude Code v2.1.318. New features include an effort option on a mod's $.model.fork so quick side jobs can run at low effort regardless of session settings, credential expiry info (loginExpiresAt, credentialexpiresat) surfaced in auth status and claude -p JSON, plus a stderr warning 10 days before sign-in expires.
Fixes cover: --continue losing earlier conversation after malformed tool call retries (regression in 2.1.314); macOS sessions stalling with memory growth when many Bash commands run; permission prompts answered by stray keystrokes; logout/MCP/trust changes silently dropped when the config file can't be updated on shared network home directories; MCP config writes without locking; and plugin commands exiting before a slow token refresh is saved.
