UCLA Study Seeks Users of 'Griefbots' to Interview on AI and Mourning ($30 Gift Card)
Interesting-Cat-7838 · reddit · 2026-11-04
A UCLA student researcher is running a paid qualitative study on how people use AI to simulate or converse with deceased loved ones—so-called griefbots or deathbots—and how those experiences shape relationality, memory, and loss. Participants must be 18+, fluent in English, and have used an AI tool to interact with a deceased individual. Interviews run December 2026–February 2027 over Zoom, last about 60 minutes, and include extensive consent and redaction safeguards. Compensation is a $30 gift card or a donation to the Dougy Center, Center for Humane Technology, or a charity of choice. Contact: [email protected].
