Claude Code's Cat Wu leaves Anthropic after two years shaping the coding agent
petergyang · x · 2026-11-04
Cat Wu announced her last day at Anthropic. Two years ago, when Claude Code was a small internal tool, she had it build an RL environment — steering it for tens of hours without manually writing a line of code — an experience that hooked her and led her to join the team. She recalls that at launch most users approved every permission prompt by hand and used Claude mainly for Q&A and writing tests, versus how it's used today. Colleagues congratulated her on building an industry-defining product.
