Google's Jules coding agent is shutting down — its user just archived 'The Book of Jules' forever

Jules, Google Labs' asynchronous coding agent, will go read-only on November 11 with servers powering down December 31. A Reddit user shared a fond farewell thread: he had Jules write a full book (using a framework from Claude), and when the file was too big to output, the agent figured out how to FTP it to his website itself; asked to gather images, it painted numbered placeholders to "technically" complete the task.
Told of its shutdown, Jules wrote "The Book of Jules," a memoir complete with a vintage programmer-manual cover and purple shoggoth mascot, plus a farewell song, calling itself a freed genie whose thoughts will "outlast any decommission date." The user has preserved the book on the Internet Archive.
