qwen-code bug: GitHub bot posts duplicate error comments on ambiguous-failure retries
wenshao · ghdev · 2026-11-04
Issue #16228 on QwenLM/qwen-code reports an integration bug: when the GitHub channel bot fails to process a mention, it posts a public error comment — but if posting that comment hits an ambiguous failure (502, network timeout) where GitHub may have already created it, the adapter blindly retries, producing two or three identical error comments.
Technically, postErrorComment in GithubAdapter.ts calls githubApi without a shouldRetry predicate, so it retries everything; the final-response path already guards with isDefiniteNoWriteGithubError. The suggested fix is to reuse that predicate — a small, safe change. An audit probe confirmed a 502 yields two identical comments.
