Sonora Studio 1.1 runs YuE2 locally on a 12 GB GPU: free MIT-licensed music studio
baxxox · reddit · 2026-11-04
An indie dev released Sonora Studio 1.1, a free MIT-licensed local-first music studio that now runs YuE2 on your own PC via the lightest Q80 quantization (yue2.cpp) — tested on an RTX 2060 with 12 GB VRAM; the model download is 5 GB.
Features
- Create music with ACE-Step 1.5 (ComfyUI locally or RunPod) and YuE2, plus Remix/Edit; YuE2 writes melody and chords first (editable), then sings your lyrics
- Custom chord loops per song section, genre presets, reference tab to lift melody/chords from a song or MIDI
- YuE2 LoRA adapter catalogue, audio editor, stem mixer, Audio Lab analysis/mastering
- Optional LoRA training on RunPod; can run on a server and reach your home PC's YuE2 engine over SSH
Caveats: music creation needs no API key, but AI assistants require your own DeepSeek/OpenAI key; models are not distributed with the tool and some YuE2 LoRA weights are non-commercial; the unsigned Windows binary triggers a SmartScreen warning.
