Two mystery OpenAI model IDs (rc-ada-*-vm) appear and vanish, fueling GPT-6.2 Astra rumors
Soggy_Perspective776 · reddit · 2026-11-04
A Reddit user spotted two new OpenAI model IDs — rc-ada-or-vm and rc-ada-sh-vm — appear briefly on a model tracker before being removed. Community guesses: "rc" means release candidate, "ada" echoes OpenAI's smallest retired API model (retired 2024), possibly pointing to a GPT-6.2 Astra drop. Last month's aurora--alpha IDs were guessed as GPT-6 Astra but showed up on Arena as image models. "vm" might mean a sandboxed computer-use build — pure speculation. Release could come any day this week; unverified.
