Designers go a full year without a single gig — market now wants those who can build, not just design
Tegadesigns · x · 2026-11-04
Designer Tegadesigns reports that some designers have gone almost an entire year without landing a single design gig. Clients increasingly don't want just Figma mockups handed off as files — they want people who can build the site too; conversely, developers who can't produce polished designs without waiting on a designer are struggling as well.
His take: don't fight AI, learn to use it. He demonstrates by taking static Figma frames to a fully functional website in a day using Claude Opus 5.5 with a prompt-driven workflow.
