OnlineInference · x · 2026-11-04
Per Search Engine Roundtable, Google announced it will "entirely" turn off Google Search, Gemini, Gemini Notebook, and Gemini in Classroom for K-12 student accounts until school administrators explicitly enable them.
Google says the change responds to requests from "schools, teachers, leading researchers, and policymakers," arguing schools should control AI in their classrooms and need admin-level controls. More specifics for schools will be shared in the coming months.
