Binance breach postmortem: fake AI coding tool plus fake job interviewer social engineering
RachelVT42 · x · 2026-11-04
AutismCapital's recap of the Binance compromise: one engineer downloaded a bogus AI coding tool from a fake Google link, another was tricked by a fake interviewer into downloading a virus-laden coding "assignment" — compromising both gave attackers access to Binance. Takeaway: you're only as strong as your weakest link; social engineering remains the best hack. Replying RachelVT42 adds her husband was once randomly recruited by Google but the offer died over a forced California relocation despite interviewing for the NYC office.
