Locus builds autonomous discovery that adapts and searches scientific foundation models
yusufroohani · x · 2026-11-04
The Locus team describes its autonomous discovery system: scientific foundation models provide "maps" of biological outcomes, and Locus both adapts and searches these maps — adapting Boltz-2 to new chemical series and targets, and designing antibody workflows that use ESM to explore sequence space.
They argue discovery over foundation models mirrors lab-based discovery (limited data, noisy evaluations, vast search spaces), and expect closed-loop discovery platforms built for computational settings to increasingly apply to physical experimentation.
