Debunked: 'Astra fixes Qwen by reading raw weights' post is misleading

A viral post claiming GPT-6 Astra improved Qwen3.5-0.8B (MATH-500: 7.9%→48.1%, IFEval 3x) 'just by looking at raw weights' is misleading, per a breakdown shared by Ian Arawjo. Only the first experiment (naming a PPO-trained game network, 17K samples, 4/4 correct) actually used raw weights alone; the game-network improvement and Qwen math-fix experiments both wrote and ran Python programs. The abstract conflated three different techniques into one magical narrative.
