Developers open-source a from-scratch reproduction of the $1B-raised Flapping Airplanes megakernel

Flapping Airplanes — which raised $1B at a $6B valuation on the back of a demo video — showed one GPU kernel simultaneously training a model, serving it live, and playing Doom. Developers realarnoldxu and Bobliuuu have now reproduced it from just the video frames and open-sourced the result (MIT-licensed repo open-flapping-airplanes).
It's a real persistent megakernel: launched once, its blocks never exit, pulling training, serving and Doom tasks from on-GPU queues until the run ends. The repo includes A100/B200/B300 runs, benchmarks and docs; the authors never saw the original code, and every number comes from their own result files.
