CS student and Claude ship a 3D ninja fighting game with online multiplayer after 48 builds

A CS student built Shoot!, a Rock-Paper-Scissors ninja platform fighter in Godot 4, with Claude as his development partner. Each round both players secretly pick rock/paper/scissors, then fight as that element's ninja — with 6 stages, online play (Quick Match, House Rules, King of the Hill), a training dummy that fights back, 3D instant replays and unlockable cosmetics. Free to try on itch.io (pay-what-you-want).
How Claude helped: the fight runs as a deterministic 2D simulation at 60 ticks/sec with 3D graphics as a separate display layer, so online play syncs inputs only and the 2D→3D move touched no fighting logic; gameplay changes are described in plain English and version-bumped for online compatibility; nearly all scenery is code-generated (galaxy shader, dunes, drifting clouds, wind streaks); 37 headless automated tests plus an online test that plays two copies against each other across 100+ checkpoints run after every change; Claude records a gameplay clip after each update via Godot's movie writer (catching a black-circle bug and limb clipping) and even cut the trailer, exports Windows/Mac builds and packages auto-updater files.
Lessons: small specific requests beat "make it better"; requesting a gameplay clip every update is the best habit; automated tests are what let a project this size keep moving without regressions.
