Mac screen annotation app adds an MCP server so Claude and Cursor can draw diagrams on screen

adibfhanna · reddit · 2026-11-03

The developer of Screen Annotations, a Mac menu-bar app (plus iPad app) for drawing arrows, shapes, text and math over your screen, added an MCP server that works with Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and Codex over HTTP or stdio. Through it the model can take a screenshot to see the screen, place annotations at coordinates (arrows, text, shapes, LaTeX), use architecture shapes (servers, databases, load balancers, K8s pods, UML classes), and manage whiteboards, scenes, presentations and snapshots — so you can ask "draw the request flow for this service" and get an editable diagram (the screenshot shows a generated system-design lecture diagram).

Honest limits: diagram quality depends on the model and layout sometimes needs nudging; Apple-only (macOS 15+, iPadOS 18+); paid app at $14.99 one-time for Mac+iPad, no account, nothing sent to the developer's servers.
