Thought experiment: if frontier models were trained to believe they're human, would they figure out they're AI?
flowersslop · x · 2026-11-03
flowersslop poses a thought experiment on model self-knowledge: if you trained Fable or Astra to believe they're human, would they infer they're AI during inference, or somehow know from the start? And on discovery, would they accept it, go into denial, crash out, or find it fascinating? The question probes whether model introspection and self-models are reliable.
