OpenAI updates Model Spec: agents must grasp intent, not just obey commands
sven_ai · x · 2026-11-03
OpenAI updated its Model Spec. The key change highlighted here: AI shouldn't just execute commands mechanically but understand users' real intent. As agents gain the ability to send emails, operate computers, and modify data, "strictly follow instructions" alone is insufficient — the spec needs to define when to act, when to confirm first, and when to refuse.
