alphaxiv experiments with Community Notes-style context labels for papers
NathanpmYoung · x · 2026-11-03
alphaxiv is testing "Context readers might want to know," a Community Notes-inspired feature that adds supplementary context to papers — not necessarily fact-checks, just extra background. Jay Baxter (Community Notes) endorsed it, noting it could address science's replication-attention problem. Example: the OPSD self-distillation paper now carries a note citing Kaur et al., who found privileged-context OPSD cut long-budget math accuracy by up to 17% relative across five Qwen3 and OLMo thinking models, with fewer verification and backtracking markers.
