DiscImageStudio: open-source tool burns images onto disc surfaces as visible art
CatAstro_Piyush · x · 2026-11-03
DiscImageStudio, an open-source GitHub project (3.1k stars, GPL-3.0), converts any image into data that conforms to the physical constraints of CD, DVD and single-layer BD-R discs — after burning, the disc surface shows a visible pattern. Real-world photos show full illustrations rendered across the disc, with colors shifting in the light.
- Windows desktop app supports both design and burning
- Experimental CLI for Linux/macOS can generate CD/DVD/Blu-ray images offline
