AI risk researchers describe shifting from intellectual to visceral fear of AI takeover
sjgadler · x · 2026-11-03
AI takeover risk researcher Tom Davidson describes two phases in his emotional orientation to AI risk: years of purely intellectual assessment (believing >10% takeover odds without fear), giving way to an increasingly visceral, emotional relationship. Forecaster Eli Lifland, sharing the post, says he increasingly wants to tweet daily: "Experts are saying AIs might take over within a few years—where the f is humanity's response?" Both note the shift has upsides and downsides.
