Karpathy spotted using Claude Code desktop; top engineers prefer native coding apps

Responding to a spot that Karpathy appears to be a Claude Code desktop user, developer teodorio says most great engineers he knows use the native Codex or Claude Code apps, with Cursor also solid. He personally has used Claude desktop as his main driver for months, pairing it with Cursor for client work.
