Users push back on OpenAI merging ChatGPT and Codex usage limits
TinfoilTricorn · x · 2026-11-02
A user is calling on OpenAI not to merge ChatGPT and Codex usage quotas. Their workflow: GPT-6 Thinking for daily tasks, research and reasoning, Codex for actual coding work — each with its own purpose.
If ChatGPT Thinking starts drawing from the same pool as Codex, Pro users would have to ration even ordinary questions to preserve coding quota. The author argues separate limits already work well and sees no reason to change them.
