Ethan Mollick: labs treat products as disposable until AGI makes them obsolete
emollick · x · 2026-11-02
Ethan Mollick explains the labs' odd software behavior (abrupt changes, poor communication): a core belief is that products are temporary, a fundraising vehicle for a couple of years until "true" AGI makes all products obsolete.
The twist: the products are unreasonably effective and keep improving because LLMs themselves are, so labs keep getting rewarded for treating products as disposable — conventional software cycles have broken down.
