ABF substrate lead times hit 48-56 weeks as AI squeezes the chip supply chain
BenBajarin · x · 2026-11-02
TrendForce's Nov 2 supply-chain table shows AI demand pushing lead times far above balanced levels across the board, with ABF substrate at 48-56 weeks versus a balanced 12 weeks:
- CPU: 25-30W (Tight); AI inference keeps driving server CPU demand, constrained x86 supply opens doors for Arm
- GPU: 30-45W (Tightening); NVIDIA's Rubin availability may be constrained by upstream component shortages, prioritized for hyperscalers
- DRAM: 19W (Very Tight); 96/128GB RDIMM lead times shortened while 32/64GB stays severely tight
- HDD: 50W (Very Tight); HAMR/SMR capacity gains won't land until late 2027-2028
- NAND (eSSD): 16W (Tight); softer China demand from GPU shortages, possible improvement by 1Q27
- MLCC: 38W (Tight); OEMs/ODMs locking 2027 supply with long-term agreements extended to Taiwanese and Chinese suppliers
