xhdr.app: free local tool turns any photo into an HDR profile picture for X
jaivin · x · 2026-11-02
Developer tolimarchuk built xhdr.app, a free browser-side tool that converts any photo into an HDR (Rec.2100 PQ) profile picture — a 400×400, 256-color PQ PNG format tested to retain HDR when uploaded to X via desktop web.
- Runs entirely locally, no uploads, free (the price is a follow)
- Glows on iPhone, MacBook Pro, XDR and HDR monitors; SDR displays and screenshots clip the highlights, so share the file instead
