Aaron Roth: Aumann's Agreement Theorem holds without common priors
Aaroth · x · 2026-11-02
UPenn professor Aaron Roth notes that Aumann's Agreement Theorem is far more robust than it appears: parties do not need the same prior or common knowledge. Citing Aaronson's 2005 result — two parties conversing about their beliefs reach ε-agreement with high probability after 1/ε² rounds — he argues later analyses have stripped away the seemingly strong computational and epistemic assumptions, making the fast agreement dynamics apply in much more general settings.
