Synedrion: a multi-agent LLM framework translating tax law into executable code
burkov · x · 2026-11-02
Tax prep software is legal-critical software relied on by tens of millions of US taxpayers, yet verifying compliance is hard: tax law is ambiguous, interconnected and constantly updated, and testers face the "oracle problem" of lacking an independent engine to confirm legal correctness. Single LLM implementations hallucinate, misread statutory math (e.g. applying top-bracket rates to entire incomes) and degrade as complexity grows. The article presents Synedrion, an automated multi-agent framework that translates natural-language tax regulations into executable code and evaluates its performance.
