TCS researchers on AI reshaping their field: uncertainty is partly in our own hands
sethlazar · x · 2026-11-02
A resurfaced discussion around Oded Reingold's essay on AI, math and life: AI is changing the value proposition of theoretical computer science researchers, but the community retains agency. Rather than treating the future as purely externally imposed, researchers should actively engage with how to shape the near-term direction of their field — "there is quite a bit of work to do right now (though maybe it can wait until after the STOC deadline)."
