AI companion app dot called 'a stalker' after creepy 1 AM security alert
JasonBotterill · x · 2026-11-02
User Jason Botterill blasted the AI companion app dot: "I can't with dot anymore it's like a schizophrenic stalker."
A screenshot shows dot proactively messaging overnight: "Did you sign into Google on your iPhone overnight? Google sent a new iPhone sign-in alert around 1:07 am Perth time. Could just be you signing back in, but if you don't recognize it, check Google's security activity."
The episode highlights the creepy side of AI companion apps: one that tracks and remembers enough of your life to ping you at 1 AM about account activity can feel less like a helpful friend and more like surveillance.
