MTS-ification: post-AI job titles describe what you own, not what you do
nathanbenaich · x · 2026-11-02
Nathan Benaich amplifies dabit3's essay on "MTS-ification": AI is flattening most categories of tech work. Titles used to describe "what we do"; post-AI they describe "what we own." Depth is rentable, so passing work around costs more than doing it yourself. AI fills in the "average," so what stands out is agency, judgment, and spike skills. Advice: get fluent with as many relevant AI tools as possible. Benaich adds: "member of agent management staff, all the way down."
