We're measuring AI agents wrong: task completion counts less than human verification work
alifcoder · x · 2026-11-02
A widely shared take argues the industry measures AI agents the wrong way: everyone counts how many tasks an agent completes, but the real question is how much work humans still must do afterward.
Finishing a task and getting it right are different things — an agent may report a research task "completed in 5 minutes" while the human spends 20+ minutes checking sources, verifying facts, fixing missing details and reviewing. Evaluation should factor in human verification cost.
