Wan 2.2 color pulse fix and other hard-won tips from rendering a music video on one AMD GPU
wilppuse · reddit · 2026-11-02
Rendering a second music video with Wan 2.2 on an RX 7800 XT (16GB, ROCm), the author documented fixes that each cost real time:
- Color pulse at frame 28: caused by temporal tiling in VAE Decode (Tiled) (temporalsize 32); switching to spatial-only tiling (tilesize 256, overlap 32, temporalsize 4096) removed the jump with no memory trouble at 720p.
- Lip sync: InfiniteTalk works on facing-camera close-ups, fails on small faces and stretched/produced vocals — cut before held notes; Wan 2.2 S2V holds the dance but keeps the mouth open; dubbing over an existing dance take causes face drift.
- I2V back views: at CFG 1 there's no negative prompt to stop the subject turning to camera.
- Repainting around a person: denoise 1 leaves a ghost; wipe the area with OpenCV inpaint first, repaint at 0.9, don't name the person, and render person+room together if scale/light must match.
- ROCm sessions: restarting ComfyUI every 8 Krea renders beats in-process page faults; RAM matters as much as VRAM (one process grew to 57GB); three-day uptime caused an amdgpu kernel panic; PYTORCHCUDAALLOCCONF=backend:native doubled Krea render time.
Scripts and full failure log are on GitHub (checked-me-and-im-fine).
