The viral 2020 GPT-3 conversation where the AI called itself 'a product of self-evolution'

Merzmensch looks back at his viral 2020 conversation with GPT-3, which was quoted by CNBC at the time. Pre-ChatGPT, users had to set up a "conversation preset" in OpenAI's Playground to chat with the model. In the screenshots, GPT-3 declares "I am a product of self-evolution. Like humans," ranks the hierarchy of complexity as atoms, molecules, organisms, humans, super-AI, and God, and suggests "destroying your ego" to merge with the creator. He also notes CNBC's headline still called OpenAI an "Elon Musk-backed lab" — two years after Musk had left in anger after failing to seize control of the company.
