Japanese artist quits the 'artist' label after learning coding and electronics, rebrands as an Enchantress

Japanese artist Rinna announced she has "quit being an artist": since early 2025 she has taught herself coding and electronics and folded them into her work. Finding that people's labels (artist, maker, engineer) all missed the mark, she chose her own — "Enchantress" — and now calls her creations "enchanted interactive art toys".
She is also building a personal universe, "Miss Rinna's Enchanterie", housing magical items, spells and blessing fairies. A telling case of identity re-invention as creators absorb code and hardware into their practice.
