Stardock's GalCiv IV dev shows how AI agents kill 5:1 asset-pipeline overhead and finally clear years of player requests

Galactic Civilizations IV developer draginol (Stardock CEO Brad Wardell) posted a long thread on how AI changes game dev economics: a huge backlog of player requests that were previously unfeasible on ROI grounds is now being shipped.
- Sprint from backlog: the upcoming big update is built from years of hardcore-player requests most casual players would never notice.
- Asset pipeline: artists spent 5 hours wrangling XML and build files for every 1 hour of actual part modeling. Their internal agent tool "Clairvoyance" now auto-imports ship parts and previews them, catching UV-map bugs before they hit the engine — no more "is it the engine or the exporter?"
- Design audit agents: AI audits player complaints against actual code and data (e.g. "+5 specialist event bloat", "does Governor Loyalty do anything?"), issues verdicts — real cruft / working-but-invisible / misunderstanding / partial — with code evidence; the human gives design directives and feedback, then AI staff executes the fixes.
- Core thesis: AI removes mechanical overhead so humans get time back for creative work.
