OpenMem: BYO memory backend for coding agents, cuts trial cost from $1.88 to $0.32
goost95 · reddit · 2026-11-01
OpenMem (Apache-2.0, local-only) gives coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and OpenCode a unified memory layer via MCP: plug in Hindsight, mem0, Cognee or your own backend, and trim old context from the prompt with zero LLM summarization calls—full transcripts live in local SQLite and are searchable. ContextBench log-triage tests with Haiku 5.5 show $0.32 vs $1.88 per trial, 10.6M vs 32.6M tokens, at 96% cache hit rate. Inspired by MemGPT, Mainplane, and The Complexity Trap.
