Z Image Turbo on an 8GB VRAM Laptop: 40-60s per Image, a Beginner Is Impressed
Tonka-Jahari-Pizza · reddit · 2026-11-01
A Reddit beginner tried Z Image Turbo locally and was genuinely impressed: on a laptop with an RTX 4070 (8GB VRAM), i7-14650 and 16GB RAM, each image took about 40-60 seconds — fast enough to surprise someone running image generation locally for the first time.
Without modifying the ComfyUI workflow at all, they only raised the steps from 8 to 14 and saw better results. Typical flaws remain (a wrong shadow in a dessert photo, a mangled fisherman leg), but quality is solid for the hardware.
As a newcomer who only knows how to write prompts, the author asks the community for advice: which workflow nodes or additional models could improve quality further and make outputs harder to detect as AI-generated?
