OpenAI to merge ChatGPT and Codex into one shared token allowance in December
rohanpaul_ai · x · 2026-11-01
Per OpenAI's official help doc, starting December, Plus/Pro/Business usage allowances will be shared across ChatGPT and Codex as Work's agentic capabilities fold into main ChatGPT. Usage will be metered in tokens (advanced models and complex tasks cost more); instant chat won't draw from the allowance. Combined remaining usage and reset times will be visible in Settings → Usage, with credits purchasable after hitting limits.
